What is the First Holy Communion / Czym jest Pierwsza Komunia Święta
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever;and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” John 6:51
What material food produces in our bodily life; Holy Communion wonderfully achieves in our spiritual life. Communion with the flesh of the risen Christ, a flesh “given life and giving life through the Holy Spirit,” preserves, increases, and renews the life of grace received at Baptism. This growth in Christian life needs the nourishment of Eucharistic Communion, the bread for our pilgrimage until the moment of death, when it will be given to us as viaticum.”

By the consecration the transubstantiation of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ is brought about. Under the consecrated species of bread and wine Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true, real, and substantial manner: his Body and his Blood, with his soul and his divinity.

Jest to uroczystość katolicka, w której podczas mszy wierni po raz pierwszy przyjmują Eucharystię, czyli zgodnie z wyznawaną przez siebie wiarą prawdziwe ciało i krew Chrystusa pod postacią chleba. Do pierwszej komunii świętej Kościół dopuszcza wiernych, którzy znają podstawowe prawdy wiary i rozumieją dokonującą się na mszy świętej transsubstancjację. Pierwsza komunia święta jest ważnym wydarzeniem nie tylko dla przyjmujących i ich rodzin, lecz również dla całej wspólnoty parafialnej.
W naszej diecezji wiek przyjęcia pierwszej komunii świętej jest obecnie ustalony na trzecią klasę szkoły podstawowej. Istnieje także możliwość dopuszczenia do komunii św. dzieci młodszych (Św. Jan Paweł II pochwalał ten zwyczaj).
Preparation for the Sacrament / Przygotowanie do Sakramentu
In the gospels we read that the Eucharist was instituted at the Last Supper. This is the fulfillment of the covenants in the Hebrew Scriptures. In the Last Supper narratives, Jesus took, broke and gave bread and wine to his disciples. In the blessing of the cup of wine, Jesus calls it “the blood of the covenant” (Matthew and Mark) and the “new covenant in my blood” (Luke).
According to the recommendation of the Diocese of Dallas, before a child receives the Sacrament of Penance and First Holy Communion, he should attend catechesis for 2 years.
Baptized children in first grade (or older) and their parents attend a class every week for two consecutive years to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Those preparing for the Sacrament of Eucharist must have completed the required preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Zgodnie z zaleceniem diecezji Dallas, zanim dziecko przystąpi do Sakramentu Pokuty i Pierwszej Komunii Świętej, 2 lata powinno uczęszczać na katechezę.
Dzieci i młodzież przygotowują się do Pierwszej Komunii Świętej w ramach katechezy po niedzielnej Mszy Świętej. Staramy się angażować też całą rodzinę, by duchowo odpowiednio nastroić dzieci do tego ważnego dla nich wydarzenia.
Przed Sakramentem Pierwszej Komunii Świętej, wymagana jest zawsze Spowiedź Święta.
